Give yourself extra time to find parking* and explore the observatory grounds and museum, before taking in the sunset, at 7:20pm. The panoramic views of the Hollywood sign and La skyline are some of the best in the city.
*If the parking lot at the observatory is full, you can park along the roads leading up hill.
